cesar chavez

So there was a bbq at Lexie's today. Met some cool new people. Invited some to Thursday night Bible study. Lots of food. And LOTS of talk towards the end of the night. Food was good. Talk wasn't as much. Tried to make it as edifying as possible, but to no avail. Hope there aren't any broken souls or discouraged hearts out there. Why can't we just be Godly people who don't talk about other people.

Maybe someday we'll get this fellowship thing right.

eunice is a homo

Hendrix: The waitress here looks like a supermodel
Hendrix: Even has the height
Eunice.: Ooohhhh
Eunice.: Take a picture!
Hendrix: Haha I think she's a fob
Eunice.: Wat?! Where u at?
Hendrix: Royal buffet
Eunice.: She's filipino?
Hendrix: Like chinese
Hendrix: Or some kind of asian
Eunice.: Ohhh
Eunice.: U don't like asian girls!! Wats wrong with you?!
Hendrix: I like hot girls
Eunice.: Ooohh me too
Hendrix: Duh. If they're hot, the nationality don't matter
Eunice.: Hahaha
Eunice.: True
Hendrix: You're gay.

Overheard in Chino Hills: Espressornography.

I'll try to keep this short, but I also want to give you details. Let's see how this goes. So I was on a 30-minute break at the Starbucks where I live--I mean work at, when a couple walked in. A distinguished-looking white male in a new suit who I observed to be in his late 30's or early 40's, and an average-looking but pretty white woman with blond hair who was dressed in sweats. She was about 24 years old or so. This was around 8:00am, mind you. A couple minutes later, a black male, who seemed to be around the same age as the first man, and dressed in basketball gear walked in, and another young blond girl was with him. This one was prettier, I guess because she had much more makeup on, and was dressed semi-professionally in a pantsuit, albeit provocatively with her cleavage clearly visible. Yeah, I noticed. Haha. Anyway, the four of them sat at a table fairly close to mine, while I franticly played Diner Dash on my Sidekick (it's a stressful game!), and I thought nothing of them. I noticed the second blond go to the register to buy a drink while the three still at table, conversed. The white male says to the "average" pretty girl (discreetly, yet not discreetly enough to not let me hear it): "So, you think you can do this?" She responded quickly, sharply, and with a bit of anger in her voice: "Of course I can. It's just porn." I calmly and quietly sat and fiddled with my Sidekick, pretending that I was oblivious to anything any of them had said. I blocked out everything their conversation consisted of for about one more minute, got up, and walked away.

And so ends Hendrix's uncomfortable story hour. 'Til next time!

No more pencils, no more books,

no more teacher's dirty looks.
I AM FREE. At least, from school.

When does real life begin.

Unsolved mystery.

There is one question I've always thought about, well, aside from complicated questions about the existence of time travel or the perils of dimension hopping, and this is it: WHERE THE HELL DO DOGS COME FROM. We have always seen dogs as domesticated animals, but what about dogs in the wild?? (Aside from wolves). I'd love to know if there are packs of dalmatians or pugs or golden retrievers out there somewhere. Maybe they're running around in some forest. Or the jungle! I need to know.

But alas, I am still not interested enough to actually research this topic.

Smiles at 2:45am.

Bianca: HENDRIX!
Hendrix: Bianca!
Bianca: :)
Hendrix: Will you still be in Paris after spring break?
Hendrix: If I sent you something, would you receive it?
Bianca: haha yes i'm coming back to paris after sb
Hendrix: I mean, not that I'm sending you anything...
Bianca: haha well fine then.
Bianca: well yeah i'll be back in two weeks
Hendrix: Expect something when you get back to Paris.
Hendrix: For now, I need to sleep! Work soon. Eh.
Bianca: ahhh hendrix, i love you.
Bianca: have a good night's sleep
Hendrix: Haha thank you.
Hendrix: Oh, and I love you back. <3
Bianca: yayyy!

God, she is a beaut. & I wanna hug her forever and ever.

"Love is 'evil' spelled backwards to a dude that doesn’t know how to spell."

So Fidel Castro has finally stepped down as Cuba's leader. Hard to grasp.

Birthday sushi and yogurtland with the bff, birthday (burnt) cookies :), cakes, texts, phone calls, emails, and comments. Minus one, but eff that. Painted one final jellyfish. Gave up on a dream for the 2905725314th time, with the realization that maybe it wasn't meant to be. AGAIN. Damn, I hate Valentine's Day. Finishing up Me Talk Pretty One Day by the hilarious David Sedaris, which reminds me... I LOVE LOVE LOVE BIANCA GOCHUICO. To death. I am still a LOST fanatic. Random kickbacks with new random people and being genuinely happy. Faux golf expertise at Pacific Palms is always fun with Kristopher Saliba. Other people too I guess. Haha. Disneyland every week and falling back in love with spontaneity.

All is right in the world.

As the world turns.

So a 23-year-old man was recently sentenced to death in Afghanistan for downloading. Not songs, or porn, or movies, but a report. A report of the Afghan government's harsh treatment of women. He downloaded and distributed the report to other professors and students. Glad to know we're spending billions of dollars to continue keeping the peace and spreading our good ol' notions of freedom overseas. (That's sarcasm, folks.) Read about it for yourself at wired.com.

*On a slightly lighter note -- Actually overheard on the streets of NY.
Person One: I heard Osama may run for President in 2008. That's crazy, man. If he comes out the cave, they will get him for sure.
Person Two: I think it's Obama who may run -- Senator Obama.
Person One: Oh. I still think Osama would have a chance.

So this is what the United States has come to. Thank God for inane distractions like the Superbowl to help us lose focus on important global issues. Go Giants.

Man or mouse.

Screaming at you at the top of my lungs -- Only heard from between my own ears. I'm constantly left in sullen states and this is borderline pathetic by now. After all, I am only being myself, but who am I anymore. A glass half full kind of boy; I'm taking my naivety with me to the grave. As always, wanting to type "leaving it all in His hands" ; ever reiterate that to yourself so many times that it gets to the point of saying it just to get through the day? I know God is good and I trust in His promises, but I'm still praying intently that my head and heart are nothing short of or less than genuine. It's about time to move on. You obviously are. Sometimes I just don't know nothin' 'bout hopes or spirits or hearts or lungs or love.

P.S. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Year 2007 is "w00t" w/ 2 zeros. WTH.

This was amusing:

Lexie.: what is on jellyfish?
Lexie.: like on drugs?
Preakin hendriX: haha... like... "thoughts on jellyfish"...
Preakin hendriX: or as in... "this blog is about jellyfish"
Lexie.: ooh. so you like jellyfish?
Preakin hendriX: hahahah you could say that
Lexie.: but theyre eeevil =( especially in finding nemo
Preakin hendriX: hahahaha evil!!!
Preakin hendriX: hahaha.
Lexie.: you like evil living things!!!
Preakin hendriX: apparently.

The hills are alive with the sound of Musiq.

I was driving to school today on Haven in Ontario with the snow covered mountains in view, and witnessed four white big rigs at opposite sides of the intersection, all of which were making left-hand turns, whilst four people on parallel sides of the street crossed at exactly the same time and pace in a synchronized manner as if it were all choreographed. "Be" by Common was playing in my car, and I felt as if I were in some new urbanized hip-hop Broadway musical-turned-film. It was bizarre, beautiful, hilarious. Yeah, somethings wrong with my brain.

January 24, 2008

Hum hallelujah.

Sometimes I wish I had a teleprompter; cuecards for this life. Because I'm never having all the right words. Older and wiser. Hmph. I'm more confused by the second. I bought another "private" journal, one I hope I'll use. But I despise my style. Writing like it was all meant to be read. Well maybe it is.

End.

R.I.P. Heath Ledger.

So Heath Ledger died today at the age of 28. Something incredibly profound or cliche about living or life should go here I guess. Something like... "death is a part of life and it could come anytime, so live yours to the fullest". Or "how would you live your life if you knew that death were hastily approaching?" I don't know about you, but I'm going to spend an hour and thirty minutes of mine watching A Knight's Tale. Xoxo.

When the chase is all you know.

Seeing the two of you together almost every moment I even get to catch a glimpse of you is taking its toll (in just about every aspect). And I think the little look-away glances from me are getting noticeable. Wishing that the sight and sound of you didn't have any affect on my heart; but in a way, I'm kind of glad it does. Sigh. You'd think I'd be over it by now.

Funny how girls find these sappy little love notes incredibly cute when its to any girl other than them. That being said, Katrina Alaia will not be amused. And here's another apology, for the feelings I feel and the way(s) I choose to vocalize them. Well, this technically isn't vocalizing, but you get the idea. And c'mon, it isn't like it's some huge secret.

p.s. My toothpaste says it has "whitening oxygen bubbles". I'd be more inclined to buy toothpaste that had "whitening ACID bubbles". That would sound much more believable.

I wanna be a mexicano.

Hendrix's dream/story hour: So last night I had a flying dream. I was very close to the ground on a freeway, flying a bit faster than the cars but not by much. It was more terrifying than euphoric, as it required a certain amount of concentration. As a result, I woke up more tired than when I initially went to bed. Yikes. Anyway. The iPod is on shuffle and I'm in a good mood because "Always For You" by The Album Leaf is playing. :)

And God is good.

Koinonia/Starting anew.

Long drives in solitude, beautiful scenery, contemplation, meditation, and a Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, MercyMe, and Jimmy Needham mixtape. Epiphanies of how this life should be lived and who it should be lived for. The need for unity and fellowship. And sometimes you realize these things when it's entirely too late.

Koinonia. But I make trainwrecks out of relationships. Hoping with all my heart that they aren't irreparable. Regretful of every time I let my emotions get the best of me, and that's precisely why I'm giving this all up. (As well as so many other things.) Never wanted to ever be cliche. Especially the Christian kind, with their repetitive phrases and overused verses. But maybe it's good to be. Cliches are cliches because they're usually true. And the Christian ones are always incredibly encouraging. Always known to be the emotional one. The intellectual one. The creative one. The imaginative one. The cultured one. The secular music lover. Praying that someday, years from now, that every moniker would be dropped; replaced. With adjectives like bold, kind, encouraging, happy, Godly. This is me working with God to work on me, because I hate myself and what my ideals and personality have become. This is me apologizing to everyone I've wronged. This is me completely independent on any person, and completely dependent on Him and the inspired Word. This is me striving and growing to be the person I should've been all along.

Please disregard everything I am/ever was.

Katrina Alaia and happy thoughts.

It's 2am and late nights and even later eyes tell me it's time for random rants with hints of delirium.

MY JOURNAL ENTRIES: These insipid entries tell vague stories of depression and "heartbreak", but in actuality, my life's pretty much the opposite. What is with this obsession to record every horrible day? I haven't got a clue, but let's attempt to turn this around, shall we? Here we go.

KATRINA ALAIA: "Instead, let's focus on this single truth: I love the mix Hendrix made me for my birthday. I love Hendrix. He turns sucky days into good ones. Easily. I think I need to cut out otherpeopletime, and replace it with more Hendy time. I'm crossing my phalanges about swimming like fish and eating some raw ones tomorrow. With Hendy. That would be all." -excerpt from xanga.com/darlingnovice.

I'm such an emo-kid and sometimes I'm taken aback by this sense of awe; Contemplating reasons why she genuinely seems to enjoy my company despite my every flaw. (Haha. So poetic, yet so unintended.) And it's like you can't make everyone like you, so make the one's that do the one's that count. So this is my letter of sincere appreciation; I love and admire Katrina Alaia Garcia Tuason in just about every aspect imaginable. More to say, but all my best mentions and intentions get backspaced. Like maybe it'd be better vocalized. Someday. :)

CURRENT LOVES: This eight-book set filled with short stories and poems that I bought at Borders for $3.99. Baseball at the park and poker games with the guys. The SK3. Watching the commentary to Wedding Crashers, Old School, and Zoolander. Our new neighbors, the Baloys. This incredible summer packed with adventure, encouraging missionary stories, and two finished Bible study books. & God and the truths He's revealing everyday through His word and through fellowship.

If God gave me grace, then why aren't I graceful.

While transferring old journal entries into blogger, as well as skimming through them, I've realized why I started composing these overdramatic accounts of... life(?) in the first place. These are more like (sub)conscious "letters to you" than intentional "notes to self". I'm not complaining though, because with every bitter-infused word I re-read, I can't help but smile because I feel exactly opposite. And with every love-filled compliment, I hope you know that each one is true and genuine and heartfelt; even until now. Oh, that Katrina Alaia Garcia Tuason. It's been a while since you've been written about in here. In a good way. Vague-ness(?) is so 2-3 years ago. This is for Katrina Alaia.

Stolen from Rachel's blogspot.

"and everything good in the world is you" :)

being screamed at all damn day and calling my mother dearest "hormonal" to her face and moping. and moping some more. getting dressed up and having my hootchie (inside joke)-little-man self picked up and driven off to Newport beach. w/ taco bell. but only after enduring a 'voice-change.' discussing my favorite song in the whole freaking universe accompanied with a bean burrito & two beef chalupas. we brainstormed "the list" and discussed eyes the size of basketballs, sang a little fall out boy here and there. and i'll never be the same.

"i am so the best thing to ever happen in your lifetime. change the "i" to "you" and the "your" to "my"."

i love you too, Hendrix.

Best friends and dead ends. (Need you like water in my lungs.)

What's been keeping me (relatively) sane for the past few months: katrina alaia, rach, the sirens, live jazz at steamer's cafe, tapioca milk tea with boba, the new bright eyes album, grey's anatomy, random doodles, God's promises, and oddly enough, a billboard off the 60 freeway containing one word: Thrive.

"I don't... I just... That day you came out of the water... I was trying to breathe for you. I love you, and I want you, but I don't know what to... You didn't swim. You didn't swim and you know how to. And I don't know if I can... I don't know if I want to keep trying to breathe for you." -Derek Sheppard to Meredith Grey.

Determined to give up on someone(in one aspect), whom I told myself I'd never. But when all you hear are guilty half-truths, and when every ounce of an individual is so insincere you can taste it, you just know that they may not be worth it in the long run. I hope that you prove me wrong. This world isn't your home; please acknowledge that. I know this life is a struggle, but it's a struggle for everyone else as well. The thing is, as people, we've got choices. And as a Christian, YOU HAVE GOD. YOU have the upper-hand. In fact, WE'RE PROMISED THE VICTORY. And you know that you know all this. As always, you're in my prayers. You can keep re-living your mistakes, if that's what it takes. As for me, I'm learning from mine. And with that said, this is my goodbye to any future I would've hoped to have with you as more than just friends.

Smile and show your teeth, sweetie. You got your wish.

Fistfights of sorts.

A weekend chockful o' epiphones and burdenbearing and laughter. Jessica's house friday at 11pm to watch the Holiday. 200 mile drives(left breathless) and another Pacman victory at the Tano's. Pastor Nate and the power of the cross. Surprise parties in Ontario with AFG. And this is every thought inbetween:

Just for kicks: You Are The Idealist. You are creative with a great imagination, living in your own inner world. Open minded and accepting, you strive for harmony in your important relationships. It takes a long time for people to get to know you. You are hesitant to let people get close. But once you care for someone, you do everything you can to help them grow and develop. You would make an excellent writer, psychologist, or artist. What's your personality type?

And we're back. Words resemble teeth. They're flashed in smiles or spit out during fistfights. Ecstatic to see the former in you in relation to me for the meantime. But it still isn't the same. And I don't think anybody feels the way I do about you. Brushed off as if this were an infatuation; you know full well I have every right to these feelings. And every moment spent with you births these butterflies in my gut. Thanks for letting me pick you up on saturday. :-) You're always the first to call shotgun. And this is me wishing you were always this excited to be next to me. Secretly calling shotgun on everything you do.

Band practice with The Sirens tonight. Yippee. :-)
